Participation:

Women between the ages of 18 and 65 who are currently taking Lithium, Zyprexa, Lanictal, and/or Depakote, and have bipolar illness and are feeling depressed may be eligible for this study.

Description:

Many women with bipolar illness experience feelings of sadness and depression. The Women's Behavioral Health Care Program is conducting a study to determine if light therapy is effective for the treatment of depression in bipolar disorders.

Participants will have nine (9) initial study visits and be loaned a light box. If the participant responds to the light treatment, she will be required to make a study visit every month for four (4) months. Participants will receive free depression monitoring and treatment and be compensated for participating in the study.
