Laura Thornton, Ph.D., University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC

Laura Thornton, Ph.D., is a biostatistician at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, in the School of Medicine , Department of Psychiatry, Eating Disorders Program.  She received her BS from William Paterson College and her MS and PhD in genetics from the Pennsylvania State University.  While her early research included animal models in development, aging, and genetics, the majority of the research in which Dr. Thornton has been engaged is centered on psychiatric traits.  She has been involved with the Price Foundation Studies since 2000, coordinating the datasets and substantially contributing to many of the publications that have utilized these data.  She is looking forward to the new opportunities at UNC in the second generation Price Foundation studies.
