Medical Assistance Transportation Program (MATP)

MATP provides non-emergency medical transportation to eligible residents of Allegheny County who do not have other
transportation available to them.  These non-emergency medical services include both physical and behavioral health services. The
county will provide the type of transportation that is the least expensive while still meeting the consumer’s needs.  Trips less than ¼
mile are not funded unless the individual is unable to walk that distance.

Transportation resources available include:

  • tickets or tokens to ride public transportation
  • mileage reimbursement for use of a private car
  • para transit services

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Resident of Allegheny County
  • Must have a valid PA Medical Assistance (MA) card with MA eligibility verified according to DPW guidelines
  • MATP paperwork signed and returned before services are able to begin

Transportation is available to almost any service covered under the Medical Assistance program.  Contact MATP toll free Monday
thru Friday at 1-888-547-6287 from 8:00am – 4:30pm.
