Self-Perceptions in ADHD

Dr. Betsy Hoza at the University of Vermont has been conducting research on the self-perceptions of children with
ADHD for many years.  Her earliest work began at the University of Pittsburgh where she studied the extent to which
children with ADHD have insight into their difficulties.  She is now directing an add-on study to the Pittsburgh ADHD
Longitudinal Study (PALS) in which she is examining these early self-perceptions as predictors of adjustment in
adulthood.  For example, she is interested in answering whether insight is important for healthy long-term adjustment in
vadulthood. Once all of the PALS participants have passed into adulthood, she will begin to answer these intriguing
questions that will ultimately have important implications for the development of effective treatments for youth with
ADHD.
