COBRA Health Insurance 

COBRA stands for Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act.  If you leave your job or are fired, you are
entitled, under federal law, to a temporary continuation of health coverage at group rates.  In general, COBRA eligibility
lasts up to a maximum of 18 months, unless another qualifying event was to occur.  Decisions may be made on an
individual case basis.

Medical benefits available to COBRA beneficiaries vary based on their previous health plan and may include:

  • Inpatient and outpatient hospital care

  • Physician care

  • Surgery and other major medical benefits

  • Prescription drugs

  • Any other medical benefits, such as dental and vision care
