Rohan Ganguli, MD


 
 

Dr. Rohan Ganguli received his medical training at the Christian Medical College, Vellore in India. He completed his psychiatric residency at Memorial University in Canada. Since 1978 he has been on the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School in the Department of Psychiatry, where he is currently Professor of Psychiatry, Pathology, Health & Community Systems and Vice Chairman. He is also Chief of Clinical Services of Western Psychiatric Institute & Clinic. Dr. Ganguli is the Primary Investigator for the Schizophrenia and Wellness Research Program.

 

Jaspreet Brar, MD, MPH


 

Dr. Jaspreet Brar is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic. He has in addition received training in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the Graduate School of Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh. His research interests include the examination of risk factors associated with medical co-morbidities, especially insulin resistance and diabetes, in patients with schizophrenia. He is the Principal Investigator for the Well Being Study funded by the Stanley Medical Research Institute, and another study examining metabolic antecedents of insulin resistance funded by NARSAD.

 Georgia Murphy, MEd

Georgia Arta-Murphy began her career at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic in 1995 working as a clinical therapist for patients with severe and persistent mental illness. She is now the Project Coordinator for the Schizophrenia and Wellness Research Program.

Nicole Appel


 
BS, University of Pittsburgh

Nicole Appel completed her undergraduate studies in Psychology in 2004. Her past research experience includes laboratory work on how stress affects the immune system. She currently works as Research Specialist with the Schizophrenia and Wellness Research Program.

Dimple Sodhi, MD


 

 

Dr. Dimple Sodhi received her medical degree from Grant Medical College, Mumbai, India. She, later, completed her Masters in Applied Developmental Psychology from University of Pittsburgh. Before joining our team, Dimple worked as a Research Coordinator for Functional Imaging of Depression over the Lifespan (FIDL) study. Her past projects involved understanding the effects of genetic variation in patients with Affective Disorders and preparing a battery of cognitive and emotional tasks for FIDL study. Dimple is currently working as Research Coordinator for Schizophrenia and Wellness Research Program.

 

Maralee Litschge


 

 

BASW; MSW Intern, University of Pittsburgh

Maralee Litschge completed her undergraduate studies in Social Work in 2005. While working towards her MSW in Social Work, she is serving as a Research Specialist Intern with the Schizophrenia and Wellness Research Program.


 

Linda Koerbel


 

BA, University of Pittsburgh

Linda Koerbel has worked many years at WPIC in the Schizophrenia Treatment and Research Center in various support positions. She provides administrative support to the research team for the Schizophrenia Wellness Research Program.

 

Ranita Basu, MD


 


Dr. Ranita Basu received her medical training at Medical College, Calcutta, India. She completed her residency in Psychiatry at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York. In July 2000 she became a Fellow in Geriatric Psychiatry at Western Psychiatric Institute & Clinic, Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Basu is currently Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School. Dr. Basu is Co-Investigator for the WAIST study.
 

Martin Strassnig, MD

 
 

Dr. Martin Strassnig is a senior research track resident at Western Psychiatry Institute & Clinic. He has received his MD degree in Europe and has had additional Psychiatry clinical and research training at the University of Munich, Germany. His research interests include epidemiology, underlying mechanisms and treatment of weight gain in patients with schizophrenia. He has also participated in a variety of clinical trials comparing the efficacy and side-effect profile of atypical antipsychotics.
