Participate in a Research Study

 

The University of Pittsburgh, through funding by the National Institute of Health (NIH), is conducting a research study to help unravel the mysteries of autism. Dr. Nancy Minshew and other investigators in Pittsburgh are looking for verbal individuals between 5 and 45 years of age without autism.

Participants must be local to the Pittsburgh area. Appointments are scheduled for half-day or full-day sessions with evening and weekend hours available.

 

What We are Studying

 

We are studying how individuals with autism think and searching for genetic markers that will help to identify the genes responsible for autism.

 

How We Conduct the Research

  • pencil-paper testing

  • functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI)

  • eye movement recording

  • computer tests

  • family history interview

  • You will be compensated for your time

  • The compensation will vary depending on the studies you complete, as much as $375 if all tests are completed

Participants will be compensated for the studies that they are eligible for and complete. If eligible for the entire study, all testing can be completed in 3-5 days.
