Program Description:
This 2 hour program by the faculty of the WPIC Crisis Training Institute discusses Trauma Informed Care in the context of crisis prevention, crisis communication as means of effective crisis resolution and reduction of unintended trauma to the individual, and the importance of Staff Resiliency and self-care especially when working with individuals reporting an extensive history of trauma.
Educational Objectives:
At the conclusion of the program, participants should be able to: 1. Understand the impact of emotional trauma in the context of crisis situations 2. Identify strategies and techniques for effective crisis communication 3. Discuss the importance staff resiliency and self-care

CERTIFIED ADDICTIONS COUNSELORS (CAC)
Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of UPMC Presbyterian/Office of Education and Regional Programming is certified by the Pennsylvania Chemical Abuse Certification Board (PCACB) to provide Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC) continuing education credits for those participants attending the entire program. 2.0 PCACB hours have been approved for participation in this program.

COUNSELORS
Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of UPMC Presbyterian is recognized by the National Board for Certified Counselors to offer continuing education for National Certified Counselors. Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of UPMC Presbyterian adheres to the NBCC Continuing Education Guidelines. This program is being offered for 2.0 continuing education credits.

SOCIAL WORKERS
This program is offered for 2.0 hours of social work continuing education through co-sponsorship of the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Social Work, a Council on Social Work Education-accredited school and, therefore, a PA pre-approved provider of social continuing education.
