AACP Members Recognized by NAMI
The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) honored 35 psychiatrists with its 2001 NAMI Exemplary Psychiatrists Award at APA’s 2001 annual meeting in New Orleans in May. Among these were four current AACP members. These awards recognize substantial contributions in the areas of clinical care, public education, and advocacy at the national state or local level. Current AACP member awardees included: Douglas Noordsy Rod Shaner Suzanne Vogel-Scibilia Lindley Murray Winston At the annual NAMI convention in June 2000, Charley Huffine, MD, Immediate Past President of AACP, received the 2001 Excellence in Community Psychiatry Award in recognition of his outstanding work in the clinical setting, in his role as AACP Past President, and in his advocacy in the area of seclusion and restraint. In addition to receiving the Exemplary Psychiatrist Award, Suzanne Vogel-Scibilia, MD was newly elected a member of the NAMI Board. She is the first consumer-family member-psychiatrist member of the Board. Congratulations to all of these AACP members for their outstanding contributions.
