During our May board meeting at the APA in New Orleans a number of important issues were discussed. Some of our area representatives have found listserves to be especially helpful in keeping members up to date on regional events and concerns and addressing general membership housekeeping issues. We have continued our efforts to recruit Early Career Psychiatrists (ECPs). The APIRE Janssen Public Policy Fellows, ECPs who are mentored by AACP members, will receive automatic membership in AACP as do Bristol-Myers Squibb Fellows. The AACP booths at APA and IPS have been an important vehicle for recuiting new members. The membership committee thanks all of you who have volunteered at the booth. Several new members have joined through your charm and persuasiveness. Be sure to stop by the booth to see old friends and meet new ones. We are planning AACP booths for our Winter Meetings as well.
We will be conducting a membership survey. It has been several years since the last one. We are interested to know how the membership has changed in terms of demographics, activities, interests and concerns. Stay tuned for the survey, which we plan to distribute in as many forms as possible: on the website, listserve, mail and newsletter. Please fill it out—it will help us serve you better.
