Agenda:

  1. Diversity memberships – as part of pursing Strategic Plan goals members agreed to continue the practice of offering “free” membership for one year to community psychiatrists who have demonstrated interests and agendas commensurate with ours.  We will cross check the recommendations with our existing members list and identify those who qualify for first-time enrollment.

Presenters:  Loren McGuiness, Brenda Carpenter, Marvin Alexander, Lisa Cullens.  Funding from American Psychiatric Foundation is being sought. Cheryl Bowers Stephens may be able to help with support, and along with Ed Foulks, will bring local youth.

 

Action Item:  Will the BOD establish an endowed fund to be used to support travel and expenses of patients and their families to attend meetings as presenters?

 

Future ideas- Workshop or Symposium on the subject of mental health implications of racism in criminal justice systems.

 

3.      Publications: Resiliency and recovery in Children- Appropriate Residential Treatment, Use of safe therapeutic alliance, Cultural Competence: Charlie to follow-up with position statement draft.
