Winter Meeting
Still working on possibility
of joint meeting with National Council in Orlando
in March. Several board members have
submitted presentation proposals. Those
that get accepted will get reduced tuition for the meeting. Hunter McQuistion
and David Pollack have more
negotiating to do regarding possible concessions from the National Council to
make it more feasible for board members to attend. Hunter will be resubmitting a revised funding
proposal to Teva Pharmaceuticals.

III. Ideas for 2010 IPS
- Overview of recovery for
psychiatrists. Mark Ragins to coordinate
- What
would a recovery-oriented psychiatrist do and what would such a practice
look like?
- How
does recovery work and how does it relate/interface with the medical
model?
- Engagement
strategies for persons who are not connected, engaged? How to meet people where they are so
that they will be motivated to participate in treatment and recovery?
- How
do psychiatrists successfully relate to the anger/hostility/mistrust of the
recovery movement that is blaming/angry/traumatized and expressing it
directly to clinicians.
- Person-centered primary health homes
and integration of behavioral health services. Dick Christensen, David
Pollack, and Anita Everett to coordinate
- Models
of integration within behavioral health settings, including examples from
around the country, e.g. PACs, clubhouse settings, recipients of the
SAMHSA grants.
- What
skills and knowledge are required for psychiatrists and other BH
providers to work with PCPs and how to collaborate with PCPs.
