Steps:

· Develop a draft definition and circulate – completed

· Develop a “list serve” email discussion of revisions

· Compare with brochure definition and suggest brochure modifications

WHAT IS A COMMUNITY PSYCHIATRIST ?

A physician with specialty training in psychiatry committed to improve the health and well being of people and their communities through an appreciation of the relationship between the two, and thus the understanding that effective treatment of both mind and body requires multi-disciplinary collaboration, advocacy, and public service.

Criticism of this definition currently includes the concerns that:

· hope/value/spirit/ language that can be found in our brochure are missing

· “recovery” is missing

· the concept that a “team” with responsibility for a population is missing
