AACP Committee Report
Executive Committee
10/7/09
Present:, Huffine, Kovosznay, McQuistion (Chair), Radke, Rush, Sowers
Two issues were discussed:
The first was the election slate. Candidates for representatives from Areas V and VII have yet to be settled on, but the others appear to be identified. Brinda Krishnan, MD will assume the editorship of the Newsletter (the exact date is as yet not determined). Emeritus positions were discussed and current Emeriti will be approached concerning their wish to continue in that capacity. Discussion also focused, among other issues, on the need for ECPs on the Board.
The Winter meeting budgeting was discussed at length. Dr. McQuistion presented several scenarios concerning the cost to the organization. The committee agreed that should the organization not obtain outside funding ($15000 will be requested as a grant from Teva Pharmaceuticals), the treasury could afford to send between 12 and 20 board members to the National Council’s Annual Conference in Orlando in March 2010, with the AACP Board meeting in contiguously with the Council’s conference, Some or all of the Board members would present at the Conference, helping with costs. Board members would be asked to contribute 33.33% of individual costs. This plan will be presented to the Board during the current meeting.
Respectfully submitted,
Hunter McQuistion, MD
