Clincal/Quality Committee

Attendance:  Jackie Feldman, Wes Sowers, Suzanne Vogel-Scibilia, Steve Jewell, Walter Rush

 

TOPIC 1:

Workforce Development:  given the interest generated to this issue, the committee agreed to pursue the development of a Took Kit for Medical Directors, which would include topics including:   job descriptions, negotiating a “good” job, assessment/defining a “quality” workplace (recovery oriented services, flexibility, support, collegiality, turnover), administrative nuts and bolts, linking with the National Council curriculum/training package for medical directors, use of the PACT manual, literature (Ron Diamond, Len Stein, Nordsy, Bob Drake, General Organization Index), and revised/updated relevant AACP Products.

 

ACTION:

Jackie Feldman will take the lead on this project and will start to pull together materials, survey the membership, apply for a grant from pharma/APF.

 

A parallel process would be the development of a toolkit-guideline for agency (eg, how to create a positive workplace that can recruit and retain quality psychiatrists).

 

TOPIC 2:

Ethical Guidelines for Community Psychiatry

Pull together the prior work by Moltz and Pollack and update and hone; offer said guidelines that reflect community psychiatry understanding of boundaries, especially, vis-à-vis recovery oriented services.

 

ACTION:

Steve Jewel, David Pollack, David Moltz, Charles Huffine, Wes Sowers will move on this project.  David Pollack will forward relevant materials to Steve.

Increasing AACP Visibility to Psychiatrists
