Medical Student Awards Program

Each year the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh offers senior medical students from visiting schools the opportunity to compete for the  Dr. Thomas Detre Senior Medical Student Award in Psychiatry.  Students winning this award can design a rotation at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic in either clinical or research areas.  Students also receive $1000 to assist with expenses.

We also offer a $150 travel grant plus cover your travel and lodging expenses for the annual schizophrenia conference held by the Department.  This is a very exciting conference that addresses a wide range of topics relevant to the care of patients with schizophrenia.
