Program Description:

In contemporary America, violent behavior is on the rise and the workplace is no exception.  If one includes school violence, the phenomenon is even more alarming.  This program will focus on recognition of potential threats, assessment of individuals who are thought to present a risk and treatment recommendations for those individuals. 

Educational Objectives:

At the conclusion of this program participants should be able to:

1.                   Identify the parameters of potential risks

2.                   Describe the assessment process for individuals identified as potential risks/fitness for return to duty.

3.                   Examine treatment recommendations including situational changes designed to minimize risk

Target Audience:

All clinical and research professionals, students, trainees, as well as interested family members and consumers.

The indicated number of clock hours are approved by the Department of Public Welfare Bureau of Adult Residential Licensing.  These clock hours may count towards the 24 hours of annual training for administrators required in 55 Pa. Code Chapter 2600 (relating to personal care homes).

Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists.  Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic maintains responsibility for these programs and their content.

The announced credit hours for each program can be applied to your training hours for the Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioners (CPRP).

From the East: Take the PA Turnpike (I-76) to Exit #8 New Stanton.  Off this exit, follow the signs to Rt. 119 South.  Follow 119 South to the Main St-Route 40 Exit.  Make a Right at the end of the ramp.  Go Ό mile from the exit, past Uniontown Mall.  Turn left immediately after the Super 8 motel.  Follow the road to Jacob Murphy Lane and make a left.  The building is directly ahead (with a red roof).

 From the South:  Take I-68 to 857N to #43 North (toll road).  Take #43 to Rt.119 North.  Take Main St Exit.  At the bottom of the ramp make a left.  Go Ό mile from the exit, past Uniontown Mall.  Turn left immediately after the Super 8 motel.   Follow the road to Jacob Murphy Lane and make a left.  The building is directly ahead (with a red roof).

From the North: Take Rt. 51 South to Rt.119 South.  Follow Rt. 119 South to the Main St-Route 40 Exit.  Make a right at the end of the ramp.  Go Ό mile from the exit, past Uniontown Mall.  Turn left immediately after the Super 8 motel.   Follow the road to Jacob Murphy Lane and make a left.  The building is directly ahead (with a red roof).
