Objectives:  Participants will be able to:

• Describe the place of group therapy in current psychiatric practice

• IIlustrate ways in which group therapy supports recovery oriented care

• Describe potential benefits of psychiatrist-led groups

•  Describe barriers to psychiatrist-led groups

• Indicate the skills, knowledge and administrative strategies that enable psychiatrists to make group work part of their professional roles
